Yoga and Meditation for Beginners is a welcoming introduction to the timeless practices of classical yoga and meditation.

Each class builds on the previous one, offering a structured and progressive approach to help you develop your practice over time. While each session is unique, they are all interconnected to guide you step-by-step through your learning journey.

Taught in clear, easy-to-understand English, the course covers a range of foundational techniques, including yoga postures, breathing exercises, relaxation, concentration, and meditation.

We begin with simple movements, gradually progressing to more advanced yoga postures as you gain strength, flexibility, and confidence. The meditation practices will be introduced step-by-step, so by the end of the course, you will have the skills to continue your practice independently at home if you wish.

Practical Information:

  • Classes are available both at the school and online.
  • Yoga mats and blankets are provided in the yoga room.

Teachers

Vigyana Shakti

Vigyana has a long and thorough background in yoga and meditation and has been a full-time yoga teacher for 20 years.

She has completed a 6-year full-time yoga and meditation teacher training programme at the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School. It was the school's department in Stockholm in 2003 that was her first contact with Classical Yoga. After just a simple trial class, Vigyana Shakti immediately felt that she had found something special, something that felt like a genuine yoga tradition.

In 2004, she participated in a very unique retreat - the Three-Month Sadhana Course. Which takes place annually at the school's international retreat centre - Håå Kursgård in Småland. This course opened the door to a whole new lifestyle - she decided to become a yoga teacher.

Vigyana moved into the ashram at Håå Kursgård in 2004 and started yoga teacher training with her teacher Swami Janakananda. She stayed there for almost 8 years. During her years at the centre, Vigyana Shakti taught both evening classes around southern Sweden and was also one of the leading teachers on the longer and more intensive international retreats.

In 2012, she moved to the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School's department in Copenhagen and taught there for a few years.
Vigyana Shakti now has her own school in Malmö, but teaches a few times a week in Copenhagen.
